About us
Re:Creation New York started with Trash Club Brooklyn, a family-friendly trash cleanup and sustainability group, in April of 2024. As we learned and grew we got to know an incredible global organization called Precious Plastic.
Their powerful work inspired us to join the mission and to establish the official Precious Plastic Brooklyn Community Point, and to work toward bringing inviting, accessible small scale recycling systems to Brooklyn! In March of 2025, we officially registered as a nonprofit under the name Re:Creation New York. Over the past year, we've welcomed individuals of all ages and backgrounds to join us in keeping our parks and waterways clean through trash cleanups, recycling initiatives, and sustainability collaborations with NYC Parks, local businesses, and NYC public schools. Our mission is to implement citywide small-scale recycling programs that can serve as recycled plastic materials for local manufacturers, and establish DIY recycling centers where everyone can repurpose their own plastic waste.

Education
Grassroots plastic recycling is an incredible journey into the world of STEM, and a fun, captivating learning experience that can be a total delight to the senses! Through innovative workshops and exciting field trips, we offer educational programs that explore methods of recycling urban plastic waste and how beneficial the practice can be for ecosystems, both locally and globally. Our mission is to inspire individuals to recognize their role in identifying, capturing, sorting, reducing, recycling, and reusing vast amounts of plastic waste created each day in New York. Together, we can empower everyone to make a remarkable impact the health of our planet and its diverse inhabitants.
